Abstract
Inclusive education in India has gained significant attention as a
crucial step towards ensuring equal educational opportunities for all children,
regardless of their abilities, socio-economic status, or cultural backgrounds.
This study explores the key issues, challenges, and future prospects of
implementing inclusive education within the diverse and complex Indian
educational landscape. The purpose of this research is to analyze the systemic
barriers, policy frameworks, and practical realities impacting the effective
integration of children with disabilities and marginalized groups into
mainstream education. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study
reviews existing literature, policy documents, and case studies to identify
critical gaps and successes in inclusive education practices across various
states. The findings reveal persistent challenges including inadequate teacher
training, insufficient infrastructure, social stigma, and inconsistent policy
implementation. However, the research also highlights emerging opportunities
driven by government initiatives, community involvement, and technological
advancements. The study concludes by recommending a multi-stakeholder approach
to strengthen policy execution, enhance teacher capacity, promote awareness,
and foster an inclusive school culture. These steps are vital to advancing
equitable education in India and achieving the broader goals of social
inclusion and sustainable development.
